Good governance requires both attentive listening and decisive action. Working collaboratively with stakeholders during the first 100 days, I will focus on initiatives that deliver immediate impact while setting the foundation for long-term prosperity. These targeted efforts address our two key priorities: implementing fiscal responsibility and promoting common sense development that benefits all Yorktown residents.
Common Sense Development
- Immediately reevaluate the 485-b Tax Exemptions Business Improvement Law to ensure the Town is not giving away tax incentives that shift the tax burden onto residential taxpayers
- Host an economic summit with regional businesses, incubator programs, and developers to showcase Yorktown’s advantages and generate immediate ideas for vacant storefront redevelopment
Fiscal Responsibility
- Develop a 5-year financial forecast to anticipate future needs and prevent fiscal surprises
- Establish metrics to evaluate the fiscal impact of new development proposals, including analysis of tax revenue per acre and long-term maintenance costs
Infrastructure Improvements
- Conduct an infrastructure vulnerability assessment to identify critical needs and prioritize investments
- Put the Town’s Tree Fund to use as intended, creating a strategic plan to replace removed trees and enhance the town’s tree canopy
Clean Energy Transition
- Reengage with the Climate Smart Communities Task Force and collaborative partners to develop an achievable roadmap for town energy initiatives
- Identify two high-visibility town properties for electric vehicle charging stations that could generate revenue and demonstrate commitment to clean energy
Community Engagement
- Implement video conferencing capability for Town Board meetings to allow remote participation in Courtesy of the Floor
- Launch a “Yorktown Tomorrow” initiative inviting residents to contribute ideas for community improvement
